Choosing tactics that respect your audience is a s Choosing tactics that respect your audience is a sound business decision, and it builds the kind of trust that carries a business for years.

You get to decide what "working" looks like. Maybe it's a thank-you DM from someone who has quietly read your content for months, or wrapping up a launch with your energy still intact.

Shifting how you track success can happen gradually. The blog post outlines a gentle, step-by-step approach:

1. Choose one metric that feels misaligned and deprioritize it for a month.

2. Swap in a metric that reflects depth, such as email replies or DMs that become real conversations.

3. Set reflective goals alongside numerical ones, like "I want this offer to feel calm and clear."

4. Check in with yourself monthly about what felt good to create and where you felt most aligned.

5. Leave room for the impact that never reaches a spreadsheet, like the longtime lurker who finally reaches out.

Monthly reflection works especially well for ADHD entrepreneurs, since so many of us thrive on noticing patterns and adjusting as we go.

So the next time someone urges you to optimize for clicks, pause and check in with what matters to you. Then trust your answer.

What's a win from your business that would never appear in your analytics?

So you're ready to step away from pressure-driven So you're ready to step away from pressure-driven metrics. What do you measure now?

Ethical marketing still runs on data. The shift comes from paying attention to signals of connection and consent, and those signals are often easier to spot than you'd expect.

Here are five categories worth tracking:

1. Audience trust
DMs that turn into real conversations and clients who refer their friends. Unsubscribes belong here too, since a respectful exit is useful information.

2. Content resonance
Time spent on the page, saved posts, thoughtful comments, and email replies that go beyond a quick click.

3. Relational metrics
Invitations to speak or collaborate, plus testimonials describing the emotional and practical impact of your work. Think of this as your relationship ROI.

4. Creator alignment
Are you proud of what you're putting out? Would you sign up for your own emails? Your integrity counts as a key performance indicator.

5. Capacity-friendly indicators
Could you repeat this process with your energy intact? Sustainable growth often comes from doing less with more intention.

Some of these live in your analytics dashboard, and others show up as a quiet gut check after a launch. Both kinds of data deserve a place in your strategy.

Which of these five would you like to start tracking?

Every number on a marketing dashboard reflects a c Every number on a marketing dashboard reflects a choice someone made about what counts as success.

Conversion rates, and follower counts, and ROI… oh my!

For values-driven entrepreneurs, especially those of us navigating ADHD or other forms of neurodivergence, chasing these numbers can quietly pull our marketing away from the trust and accessibility we care about. Neurodivergent buyers often need more time and clarity before making a decision, and pressure tactics tend to push them away.

Our latest blog post breaks down five commonly celebrated metrics and the ethical cracks underneath each one:
– Conversion rate
– Open and click rates
– Follower count and vanity metrics
– Abandoned cart metrics
– ROI as the only measure of success

We also explore how these metrics became standard practice in the first place. The short version: pressure tactics get rewarded with quick results, and marketing advice tends to get recycled without anyone asking who it serves.

Measurement still has a meaningful place in ethical marketing.

The blog closes with alternative metrics grounded in trust and alignment, plus a gentle, step-by-step way to shift your tracking system at your own pace.

Which marketing metric were you taught to chase that never quite sat right with you?

Want a way to respond to objections that feels lik Want a way to respond to objections that feels like you?

When a potential client hesitates, it's tempting to reach for a rehearsed comeback. Instead, try this four-step approach that’s grounded in empathy, easy to remember, and ADHD-friendly.

1. Acknowledge
Start by validating their concern. Listening comes first.
Try: "That totally makes sense. Thank you for being honest."

2. Ask
Get curious and invite them to share more.
Try: "What information would help you feel more confident in your decision?"

3. Affirm
Remind them their agency matters.
Try: "It's okay to take your time. I'm not going anywhere."

4. Align - *only if it's a true fit!
If you believe your offer can help and their hesitation comes from a misunderstanding, gently connect the dots between your work and their goals.
Try: "From what you've shared, it sounds like this could give you the structure you've been craving. Want to explore what that could look like together?"

That fourth step comes with an asterisk for a reason. Sometimes the most ethical move is recognizing when an offer isn't the right match and pointing someone toward a better resource. That kind of honesty is how referrals and raving fans are born.

Bonus tip for my neurodivergent friends: write a few go-to responses in your own words and practice them out loud until they feel natural. Having language ready can calm your nervous system when an objection pops up mid-call.

Find examples for…
- "I can't afford it,"
- "I need to think about it," and
- "I'm not sure this will work for me,"
at MegBrunson.com/handle-objections

Which step feels hardest for you?

For me, it used to be Affirm, because staying patient with my own fear of rejection took practice.

ID: Title, 'How to Respond To Objections Without Shame or Pressure,' four overlapping curved arrows in pink, orange, yellow, and green connect labeled steps: acknowledge, affirm, ask, and align (only if it's a true fit).'

These aren’t “edgy” or “political” positions - the These aren’t “edgy” or “political” positions - they’re commitments to justice, equity, and humanity.

And if you’ve been in these online business streets for a while, you know: Most marketing advice tells us to water this stuff down.

“Don’t alienate your audience.”
“Keep your personal views out of business.”
“Be neutral to stay safe.”

But neutrality upholds oppression.
And silence serves the status quo.

I’m not here to market around injustice.
I’m here to build systems that center justice from the start.

That’s what Just Marketing® is all about.

If these values align with yours - you’re welcome here. Always.

Traditional sales training teaches us to "bust thr Traditional sales training teaches us to "bust through" objections before a potential client can slip away.

The scripts sound something like:
– "Can you put it on a credit card?"
– "This price goes up at midnight!"
– "How much is it costing you NOT to solve this?"

Those lines lean on shame and urgency to force a yes. For neurodivergent folks, people with trauma histories, or anyone who's been pressured into decisions before, they land as a red flag. The trust you worked so hard to build can evaporate in one sentence.

Here's a gentler way to look at it: an objection is information. When someone says "I can't afford it right now" or "I don't have the time," they're protecting their budget and their energy.

Thoughtful, mission-driven people make decisions carefully, and that care deserves respect.

A few mindset shifts that help:

– Treat hesitation as an invitation to get curious. Ask what would help them feel confident.

– Let "no" and "not yet" be complete answers. People who come back later arrive from trust, and they tend to stick around.

– Give yourself permission to pause. If real-time objections spike your rejection sensitivity, try: "Let me think about that and get back to you. I want to give you a thoughtful answer."

Kindness and effectiveness can live in the same sales conversation. Clarity and confidence in your offer do the heavy lifting.

I broke down how to respond to real objections, with example language you can adapt to your own voice, on the blog: MegBrunson.com/handle-objections

Now I'm curious: what's the most cringe-worthy "objection-busting" line you've ever heard?

(Or used! Zero judgment here. We've all been handed those scripts.)

ID: A purple banner reads 'Ditch the "Objection-Busting" Scripts!' Below, a crossed-out clock icon and a crossed-out cash icon appear above a speech bubble reading 'I can't' marked with an X. Text underneath reads 'How to Handle Objections Without Shame or Manipulation.'

You can build the most thoughtfully structured wel You can build the most thoughtfully structured welcome sequence around, and tone will still be the thing that makes it sound like you. So, let's talk vibes…

1. Write like you talk
Contractions and everyday language are welcome here. A line like "I hope this brings a little more ease into your day" feels warm and human.

2. Lead with empathy and autonomy
Offer your tools as options. "Take what fits and leave the rest" is one of my favorite phrases for exactly this reason.

3. Honor neurodiversity and capacity
Short paragraphs and one clear next step per email make reading easier on every kind of brain.

4. Be inclusive by default
Greetings like "Hey friend" or "Hey there" invite everyone in. Leave room for the wide range of lives your readers are living.

5. Normalize opting out
A simple "unsubscribe anytime, no hard feelings" builds a surprising amount of trust..

Your readers are here to be cared for, and a warm, clear tone tells them they've landed in the right place.

Here's a 5-email welcome sequence structure, ready Here's a 5-email welcome sequence structure, ready to shape around your voice and your people.

1. The Friendly Hello
Deliver your freebie and set clear expectations for how often you'll show up in their inbox.

2. Your "Why" (Values & Vision)
Share the story behind your work and invite readers to reply with theirs. Those replies are honestly some of my favorite emails to receive.

3. A Quick Win or Valuable Resource
Offer something they can use today, like a tip or a checklist. Pure value, zero pitch.

4. What Working With Me Looks Like
Gently share your offers as an invitation. A relatable testimonial makes a lovely addition here.

5. Recap + Stay Connected (optional)
Summarize the goodies and share where else to find you. This is a great spot to normalize unsubscribing, too, since the right people will happily stay by choice.

My favorite part? Each email has one job. That makes the whole sequence much easier to tackle in small, focused sessions, which is a gift for anyone whose brain prefers bite-sized tasks.

Write these once, and they'll greet every new subscriber for you while you're off chasing your next big idea.

Ever downloaded a free checklist and then watched Ever downloaded a free checklist and then watched your inbox turn into pressure central?

"Only 3 spots left!"
"Offer ends at midnight!"
(Spoiler: it was still there the next morning.)

For a lot of us, especially neurodivergent and values-driven folks, that kind of welcome sets off every alarm bell we've got. It also leaves plenty of mission-driven business owners wondering whether email marketing is worth the ick at all.

Good news is, your welcome sequence can be one of the kindest corners of your whole business.

Think of it as greeting new subscribers the way you'd greet a friend walking through your front door. You say hello and let them know what to expect. Then you trust them to decide what happens next.

That's the heart of a Just Marketing® welcome sequence. It centers:

– Transparency about what you'll send and how often

– Autonomy, so readers choose their own path (unsubscribe button included, zero guilt attached)

– Accessibility through plain language and alt text

– Inclusion that shows your people exactly who this space is for

Bonus for my ADHD crew: once it's written, it keeps showing up for you. Your welcome sequence handles the introductions while you save your energy for everything else on your plate. Consistency, on autopilot, with your values baked right in!

On the blog, I walk through the pushy tactics worth retiring and a flexible 4-5 email structure you can shape to fit your own voice: MegBrunson.com/welcome-sequences

Trust builds conversions. When people know you're Trust builds conversions. When people know you're not trying to manipulate them, they stick around longer, engage more, and buy when they're genuinely ready instead of when a countdown timer scared them into it.

Aligned leads convert at a higher quality than volume-driven ones. A consent-based funnel might bring you fewer names on your list, and that's a feature, not a flaw. Those are the people who resonate with your actual values, respond to your emails, and often become long-term clients or collaborators.

Slower doesn't mean less successful. Consent-based marketing tends to move at a more sustainable pace, which works especially well if you're managing ADHD, chronic illness, caregiving, or just plain burnout. That pace gives you room for thoughtful tweaks and deeper connection instead of a constant chase for the next conversion.

So yes, it converts. It just measures success on a timeline that respects your energy and your people's autonomy, instead of one built for urgency and burnout.

Check it out: MegBrunson.com/Consent-Based-Funnels
