Today's guest became a productivity coach and professional organizer after being trapped in her own clutter and chaos caused by caregiving for her Mom (who had Alzheimer's) while running multiple businesses and caring for her family (kids, cats, and hubby). She was a “sandwich caregiver” (caring for both young children and her aging mother) and the effect on her health and home was devastating. Through a combination of renewed self-care, personal development, and her own customized organizing and productivity approaches, including asking a storage and removals company to help her do some serious decluttering, she took back her own health and sanity and not only changed where her family lived, but how they lived. Ultimately, clearing out clutter has a wide range of benefits. Not only does throwing out clutter help you to focus and relax in a tidy environment, but it is also no secret that holding on to clutter can encourage common household pests such as spiders, moths, and bed bugs. Regularly clearing out your junk is therefore crucial if you want to keep household pests at bay. Accordingly, if you would like to learn more about how to combat common household pests, then you can find plenty of resources and tips online by researching terminix and other pest control companies. For Lisa, the decluttering process was so healing for her that she knew she needed to help others do the same and created Positively Productive Systems. In addition to years of organizing and coaching experience, she is a certified life coach and member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals. She has over 20 years' experience in the corporate and business world as well, which allows her to serve entrepreneurs and employees alike. She loves to compassionately and confidently serve nurturers and caregivers who are struggling to balance family and business. She adores inspiring her everyone to declutter their lives physically and mentally, which creates space for healing and hope. Let's get ready to dive into productivity and organization with Lisa Zawrotny!
The Notes
- Lisa was pregnant with her son when she moved her mother into her home in 2007. As the caregiver role for her mother, who they learned had Alzheimer's, son, and then daughter, it proved to be one of the greatest things in her life that was also devastating. Around the time that her mother passed, Lisa was exhausted and didn't even know how to function for herself, let alone be able to take care of anyone else. The path back to health for Lisa revolved around taking obstacles from her and her family's way both physically and emotionally. It was so healing for her that she knew she had to help others find the same kind of peace.

- The first step for Lisa turning her passion into a business was honing her entrepreneurial spirit on her newfound calling. But it wasn't all done in one fell swoop. It was a progression, and Lisa actually started as a professional organizer. It wasn't until she was actually helping people as a professional organizer her coaching instincts kicked in when she recognized how attached organization was to the emotional state of people. From there it was a natural progression.
- Be sure to message Lisa if you “rage clean”. She's sure that 99.9% of people do it, let's see if she's right!

- Lisa has used her business and entrepreneurial spirit to engage her children in it as well by actually involving her children as a co-hosts in her Gratitude series. She's been surprised in a wonderful way at the input and effect involving her children has had.
[bctt tweet=””Know your why. Know why you're doing this.” ~ Lisa Zawrotny, FamilyPreneur Podcast Episode #19″ username=”TheMegBrunson”]
- This applies not only to entrepreneurship, but also to how she guides people to get organized. Know why you're doing something, and that will drive you forward and lead you to your “how.”
