Y'all. This kid has been asking for a new air freshener for months.

The scent of my "fuck racism" air freshener wore off a long time ago, but I just loved having it hanging from my mirror.

You'd think she'd be happy that I finally got one in her fav scent... but this is the look I got!

Here's the thing...

If we all come together and do what we are best at, no matter how little, we'll make a change in the world.

I always talk about this, and it's because I believe it deep in my bones.

Small actions from everyday people can make big changes. ❤️

So why are more people not doing the little things?

Well, because it's not easy. The powers that be and all the ills in the world are no feeble opponents.

Or perhaps they have not realized that we can have an effect on our world if we work together.

(1) If those blessed with financial resources donate money …

(2) If the young and energetic attend protests and community demonstrations …

(3) If the teachers teach the children more accurate history than they've been led to believe …

If we do that, in the words of Ursula Wolfe-Rocca, we can unravel the whole damn cloth. 🧵

So, what do you do?

Take a moment to think about your strengths, and the things you enjoy.

Then take another moment to think about how you can leverage your skills and interests to make meaningful change in the world.

This is exactly how Just Marketing™ came into fruition for me.

I recognized my skills in marketing, and I really love this work ... and I knew there was a way that I could leverage my marketing expertise for the good of the world.

So I did. By choosing to work with world-changing businesses to promote their visions.

By teaching others how they can use their own business as a tool for dismantling systems of oppression.

By creating resources like the Just Marketing™ Checklist to encourage people to pull a thread in their marketing.

That's my little role in trying to change the world.

You don’t have to use slimy marketing tactics in order to make money and grow your business.

Sure, using deadline times and false urgency is a thing that will work… for a little bit… these strategies are not sustainable and they are seriously sketchy.

Think about it – you know you’re lying, and your audience is going to figure it out too – and there goes the TRUST factor…

Remember people need to Know, Like, and Trust you to do business with you. You don’t want to jeopardize the trust they have in you with shady marketing strategies.

That’s where Just Marketing™ comes into play… marketing that is JUST.

It’s ethical, accessible, and inclusive.

It feels good when you’re implementing it, and it feels good for those in your audience who are seeing it.

This event got me outta bed at 6:30am - 3 days in a row - if you know me, you know how BIG this is. 🤣

Lots of discussion about the weaponization of words, the attacks on DEI, and cross-cultural understanding.

And it's not just about race - we're talking accessibility, gender diversity, and other intersectional identities.

The keynotes have been enlightening and there are so many breakout sessions that I had trouble picking which to attend live - and I'm grateful I'll have access to the replays!

I know the event is just about over at this point - but put this one on your radar for next year!

You probably wondered if the product was a scam and had doubts that it might not live up to its promises.

Wrong.

Finding photos taken by my kids on my phone will always bring me joy.

Let's be a SAFE space for our kids! 🌈

Did you know that LGBTQIA+ children are 4x more likely to commit suicide than their peers?

Yes, this is the alarming and terrible reality we live in.

A reality where OUR children suffer:

- For something they have NO control over
- For being who they are
- For NOT conforming to mainstream societal standards

And it needs to stop.

Because we fail as humans when we value someone's identity over their BEING!

So…what can we ACTUALLY do to support our children?

Well, for starters, you can learn to respect their pronouns.

Research shows that transgender and nonbinary youth who reported having pronouns respected by all or most people in their lives attempted suicide at HALF THE RATE of those who did not have their pronouns respected.

That's right! Something so simple can have such an enormous impact.💥

And I would also like to share my personal experience here.

When my kid was just 10, they told me they were nonbinary and that they wanted to change their name.

Now, a year later, they have explored a variety of names! They have changed their gender identity multiple times. And I'm pretty sure we've used every pronoun to refer to them at one point or another.

Still, at 12, I fully expect that the kiddo I know today is not the final version of themself.

And that's okay!

All they need to know is I stand with them, no matter what name they use, what their pronouns are, etc.

And this is what EVERY kid needs! Just some SUPPORT!

The more SUPPORT a kid has, the less likely they are to take their lives. End of discussion. Hard stop.✋🌈

So, LET'S BE A SAFE SPACE FOR OUR KIDS AND ACCEPT THEM FOR WHO THEY ARE!

P.S. If you want to go the extra mile, you can advocate for more gender inclusivity and representation in everything, from school to sports, fashion to medical care to media. You can also show your support for inclusive brands! Start small and keep learning and expanding!

About me:

I'm a queer mama who's officially in her 40s. I love pink. I have 4 kids (8-16) and am married to an incredible human that I don't publically adore enough. We also have a 3-year-old pitbull who can't control her licker. So if I'm ever "glowing" it's dog slobber, not another pregnancy.

I majored in criminal justice and ended up in marketing. Life can be a rollercoaster - and I'm screaming my head off with my hands in the air ready for the next loop-de-loop and hoping my chapstick doesn't fall out of my pocket.
